Lucy Polkinghorne reports on a landmark decision by South Australia’s Environmental Protection Agency. For the first time anywhere in the world, an Environmental Protection Agency has publicly committed to testing the infrasound emitted by a wind farm. Polkinghorne’s report includes interviews with audiology experts, residents near South Australia’s Waterloo wind farm and the CEO of the EPA in South Australia, Dr Campbell Gemmell. The EPA study will measure low frequency noise at residences near the Waterloo facility down to 0.25Hz and will also seek input from wind energy companies. Tests are scheduled to start in March and we will provide more information as it comes to hand.
