Macarthur Preliminary Survey shows effects out to 8-9km

Mrs Anne Schafer has compiled this preliminary survey report from data collected from an anonymous survey of residents living within 10km of the AGL Macarthur Wind Development in southwest Victoria. The first VESTAS V112 turbines started to spin in October 2012.

Key findings include the following:

66% of the responding households reported being adversely impacted

Of those households affected, 96% reported daytime adverse effects, and 100% reported night time adverse effects, including sleep disturbance. 91% reported negative effects on the resident’s health.

Of the households affected, 46% lived between 2 and 5km from the nearest wind turbine, and 18% lived between 5 and 10km from the nearest wind turbine. The furthest household reporting adverse impacts lived 8-9km away.
