Vale Clive Tadgell

The Honourable Robert Clive Tadgell AO, 15 March 1934 – 14 July 2022.

The board of the Waubra Foundation were deeply saddened by the death of Clive Tadgell, a founding Director and later our Patron.

Judge Tadgell undertook legal studies at the University of Melbourne Law School in 1954. He was called to the bar in 1960, and took silk in 1974. He was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1980, and elevated to the Court of Appeal in 1995 upon its creation.

He served on the Council of Monash University from 1995 to 1998, and was elected to the Council of Trinity College in 1998.

He was elected a Canon of St Paul’s Cathedral in 1998.

Clive’s wise counsel and guidance were invaluable as the Foundation sought to discover the causes of unexpected adverse health effects in rural residents who came to our notice after the establishment of industrial machinery, principally wind turbines, in their formerly quiet and peaceful neighbourhoods.

In an open letter written in 2013 about his reasons for joining our board, Clive wrote:

I joined also because I saw a major dishonourable injustice being perpetrated on undeserving country dwellers by an industry whose morals and sense of community awareness have far to go.
