The Adverse Health Impacts of Industrial Wind Turbines – A Scientific Response to “It’s All In Your Head”
Raymond S. Hartman, Submission to the Zoning Board o Charlestown, Rhode Island, April 2013
In this paper, Dr. Hartment critiques two recent research papers which claim to prove that reported adverse health effects from wind turbines are merely a case of mass psychogenic illness, or the nocebo effect. The papers, by Prof. Simon Chapman and researcher Fiona Crichton of New Zealand, have been widely criticized by professionals around the world.
Specifically the papers are entitled “Spatio-temporal differences in the history of health and noise complaints about Australian wind farms: evidence for the psychogenic, ‘communicated disease hypothesis’, by Prof Chapman; and “Can Expectations Produce Symptoms from Infrasound Associated with Wind Turbines, by F. Crichton, et. al
