Morris, M Charts Comparing Pre Construction Modeling vs. Post Construction Noise at Waterloo Wind Development
The following charts were prepared by Mrs Mary Morris, and relate to one particular property at Waterloo Wind Development, (House 24). They were shown by Mrs Morris to the Development Assessment Commission of South Australia public hearing about the proposed Ceres Wind Project on Yorke Peninsula, to demonstrate that pre construction noise models can significantly underestimate the noise generated by wind turbines.
The pre construction noise predictions were made by Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM), signed off by Dr Norm Broner.
The post construction noise compliance report was done by Marshall Day Acoustics (MDA).
The charts clearly show that the noise predictions made by SKM were significantly lower than the measured actual noise levels stated by Marshall Day in their post construction noise compliance report.
Residence 24 is also the residence where the recent SA EPA Waterloo Environmental Noise survey acoustic monitor was sited underneath a large gum tree, contrary to the SA EPA’s own wind farm noise guidelines.
