Morris, M Development Assessment Commission Hearing, CERES, South Australia

Mrs Mary Morris presented to the South Australian Development Assessment Commission hearing at Ardrossan on 24th October, 2013, concerning the proposed CERES wind energy project on the Yorke Peninsula.

The powerpoint slides from Mrs Morris’s presentation are immediately below, and include public statements made by the then CEO of the South Australian EPA, Dr Campbell Gemmell, by Adelaide University Noise researcher, Associate Professor Con Doolan, at a meeting at the Clare Town Hall where Adelaide University researchers presented the results of their noise research at the Waterloo Wind Development on 31st January, 2013. Emeritus Professor Colin Hansen also presented the results of his research at the same meeting.

The powerpoint slides also include reference to pre construction and post construction noise assessments performed by Dr Norm Broner from Sinclair Knight Mertz and Marshall Day Acoustics. The slides show that the pre construction noise predictions by Dr Broner significantly underestimated the post construction noise levels, and that the audible noise levels measured at Mrs Julie Quast’s home by Marshall Day Acoustics exceeded the SA EPA guidelines for wind speeds above 10 m/s.

Mrs Quast has been, and remains, significantly adversely impacted by wind turbine noise since the Waterloo wind development commenced operating in October 2010.
