Testimony, Paul Cross, Port Fairy, Senate Inquiry Into Wind Farms

Submission to The Social & Economic Impact of Rural Wind Farms
Australian Federal Senate Inquiry 2011

I live in Port Fairy Vic near the State Primary School. This school erected a wind turbine 30 metres from houses in Dec 2007 in an area zoned residential.

Port Fairy is a very windy town and at times the wind turbine is as loud as a single prop aircraft.

The noise is very intrusive for the local residents. It disturbs the sleep and quality of life of those who live close by.

According to local real estate agents the value of the properties have declined because of it and it deters potential buyers.

Many requests have been made to the school to shut it down permanently or move the turbine away from the residential area. All requests have been refused.

It should be law that no wind turbines be erected anywhere near private residences.
